New Format Color Workshops Explained
What can be said about New Orleans? The birthplace of jazz? The home of Bourbon Street? The source of unbelievable courage, strength and perseverance? Say yes to all three....
This year, CMG is proud to hold its 2009 Fall International Conference in this gracious city, to be part and to see what was and what has become of this famous town, known the world over. While the events of Hurricane Katrina devastated many parts of the city, there has been a tremendous influx of care, concern and funds to rebuild, replenish and restore this historic place. Whether you are a color design professional or just a tourist passing through, inspiration is everywhere. Now that the storm has passed, the real w ork continues, and CMG's Board couldn't think of a better way to say thank you than to give back. This Conference will focus on CMG Giving Back, an attitude you will see present in many of our planned events.
And there are changes you will notice. Consumer and Contract colors will be forecast at this Conference, so all CMG members will have the opportunity to take part. Colors Current and Color Directions are no more - CMG's committees are busily working to reformat and redesign our Workshop structure to make it the most valuable for you. Find out more.
If that's not enough change, Saturday evening will become our big event night, and there's no place better to do something BIG than in New Orleans. Stay tuned for details, but mark your calendars to participate.

NEW ORLEANS, NEW EXPERIENCE!
Pre-Conference Tour
Friday, November 13, 2009
12:00Noon-5:00PM (approximate end time)
Plantation Tour and Lunch
From the earliest days of the New World, French and Spanish colonists staked their claims to a portion of the Louisiana Territory above and beyond New Orleans. Pillared palaces were built for comfort and efficiency, luxury and entertaining. This lavish culture reached its Zenith in the peaceful days before the War Between the States, leaving as a legacy the mansions rising along the banks of Ol’ Man River.
Experience life as it must have been at one of the Great Ladies of the River Road: San Francisco Plantation. This charming house is probably the most elaborately decorated plantation in the area. Built in the 1980’s, when "Steamboat Gothic" was at its height, San Francisco is a treasure trove of often whimsical Victoriana. Gorgeous furnishings complement Italian frescos and multi-colored pastels highlight the home’s fascinating exterior cutwork. Recently restored at a cost of millions, San Francisco is a delight to the eye.
Cost: $65 per person, including lunch
