History of Color in North America

History repeats itself. By analyzing the past, it becomes possible to anticipate the future. This module is intended to heighten your awareness of the common rhythms and threads of product color translation. 

The module uncovers over three centuries of color in North America and how past influences affected color preferences by decade. It explores the main drivers of the mega trends and how they translate into color, across the consumer spectrum. 

About the Author

Doty Horn is a CMG Board Member and the Founding Director of ColorVoyant LLC, a color marketing consultancy.

With a background in fashion and design leadership roles, she brings a unique, cross-industry perspective on color trends. Doty teaches at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City and actively contributes to Color Marketing Group as a board member and mentor.

Her global trend research and passion for fashion continue to shape her visionary approach to color and design strategy.
